Why do you require visa card info to sign a child up for yahoo to participate on message boards?

I just tried to sign my child up with a Yahoo ID to participate on the math message boards, but it would not let me continue without visa card information. Why do you need that information? I thought this was a free service.

  2. Because Yahoo (and most other firms) want as much info about anyone as they can get. The more info they have, the more power they can wield over “us” in the future. It’s all part of a “GOD” fantasy I think.

  3. CC’s are often used to validate age… but i would NEVER trust that.

    Just friggin lie about their age. If it requires a CC anyways… go somewhere else.

  4. No one asked me for visa information to sign-up for Yahoo and I would never give them that info anyway. Indeed if I were you, I would check that it was Yahoo and not a phishing site that you entered your credit card information.
