Which credit card would be best for me?

credit card comparison

I am trying to build my credit and I want to apply for one more credit card. I already have 2…I’m 18…

I found this list here:

http://www.creditcardguide.com/credit-card-comparison/#section-10000

What would be the best choice for a longterm (basically for life) credit card…?? Doesn’t have to be on the list..

I don’t need rewards or anything like that…

..just a no annual fee good credit card…something to build my credit…

Any tips are much appreciated…

Thanks!
Alexander
..everything is paid on time w/ my other cards…Never a late payment!!
I already have Capital one and BofA…

Listen…I understand the credit card is not gonna make me wealthy.. I mean its not rocket science!

I just want to *BUILD* my credit… :)

  1. Try American Express. They have different types of benefits and priviledges. Or you can also use Discover.

  2. since you’re considered college age you should be able to get a card with less than 10% interest and 6 months-1 year 0% introductory rate. It is a good idea to see if your bank offers a student card. I go through chase and they offer one with 8% interest and 6 months at 0% for students

  3. The credit score is a scam. The only way to build the score is to accumulate debt. Anyone who tells you differently is trying to sell you something. Save your money and pay cash for everything. If you really need plastic in your wallet, get a debit card.

  4. I’m not a big fan of credit cards, especially for an 18 year old.

However, your question is an easy one. An extra credit card will most likely hurt your FICO score in the short term and will not improve it in the long run. The two current lines of credit you have open are enough to establish a credit history.

Don’t be fooled by credit card hype. A pile of credit cards never helped anyone be wealthy. (unless you count the credit card companies)

    Additional:

What is your current FICO score? What is your goal?

Why do you think adding another line of credit will “build” your FICO score?

  5. Chase Card is great as long as you have no late accounts, Capital One would be a good 2nd choice. If they both decline you, go with HSBC.
