what kind of credit card can i get with no credit?
should i get one from my bank? ive banked there for about 2 years and have had 3 overwithdrawls. should that matter? im just scared of high interest rates. is there anything i need to know about starting a credit card?
You can get a debit card from your bank, it is often linked as your ATM card as well. There are also some, ahem, businesses that will “sell” you an equivalent where you often pay a fee plus you make a deposit which turns into your credit line. I do not feel that many of these companies are reputable. The problem is that you are really loaning them your money and not receiving any interest. At least at a bank, you can open an interest bearing account (it will seem small but it does add up).
You might apply for a real credit card at your bank, they might grant it to you. Another place that often will issue a credit card, especially for young adults, are department stores / specialty clothing shops. But as a tip, for a while, do not charge anything that you cannot pay off in cash. This is because to build up your credit, you should completely pay off your bill every month for a year or two.
There is a chance your overdrafts are not on your credit report. You can contact one of the credit agencies or visit ww.freecreditreport.com and get ONLY the free stuff, you do not need any of the options.
The interest rate shouldn’t even matter to you! Why?
Because you shouldn’t carry a balance . Pay the amount in full every month that way you pay nothing in interest.

There are many credit cards available to people with poor / no credit. Orchard Bank and First Premier are two of the most popular issuers. You’ll also have to decide between ’secured’ and ‘unsecured’. Since you won’t pay a security deposit with an unsecured credit card, I would try that first.
