What is the best student credit card?
What is the best credit card for a student trying to build good credit? Or does anyone know of a website that lists the best ones?
Most IRRESPONSIBLE students end up over their head in debt.
Smart students, like myself, try to build up good credit.
I plan on buying my gas with a credit card and then paying it off as soon as I get home. That way I’m building good credit. Don’t judge people. Not everyone fits a stereotype.

The best one is NONE OF THE ABOVE.
Students usually end up in very deep dodo when they get a credit card.
Statistically, too many end up with debt they cannot pay.
Stick with a checking account and a debit card.
That’s a good question.
My first card was from Citibank because they were the only ones on campus and not necessarily the best. Since you are just starting out and trying to build your credit they will probably only offer you a secured card (that means you will need to put down a collateral). If you get an unsecured card then you are 1 step ahead from the bottom.
Building credit requires you to be able to pay off debt (with interest) over time, and not just paying off your bills each month before you get charged any interest. That does not build any credit because it does not demonstrate that you can pay off debt larger than your income. This is how credit affects how you can get a loan for a car or a home.
The best place to get started is to go to your local bank where you have a bank account and talk to them about getting student credit. They will have tons of information for you.
If your bank isn’t in the area because you are away at school, look into opening a student account with a community credit union, usually they have bundles that cater to students going to school in the area.
Hope this helps.
