apply credit card

I’m thinking about applying for a card, but want to know what the BEST is for a person with no credit.

I’ll be using it mostly for gas, and perhaps a pair of jeans every once in a while.

Plus, I’ll have the money to pay it to $0 every month.
I’ll only be charging about 30% or less of the limit. ($1000 limit=$300 spent monthly)

  1. Go to Capital One and apply for their standard platinum. They tend to be fairly liberal with who they grant credit to and the rates are fair.

  2. Chase BP. My first card. Love it. My original balance was $500. It’s now $2500 and I have rebates from using it at BP. Once in a while, they offer you checks you can use to spend on things and get 0% interest for a certain amount of time.

  3. its probably a little harder now due to the current credit cris but usually, orchard bank, premier bank and capitol one are best for new credit builders

  4. Card Hub is my favorite credit card search engine:

On the top left select “Limited History” so that you can see all the credit cards that you qualify for and then select the other features that you want. In that way you will get the best credit card for your needs.

  5. Wells Fargo Visa card is easy to get and not expensive. Chase has good terms. State Farm has a good card with “cash back” provisions. Be ready to submit a letter about your finances since they have so little credit score to evaluate you..

  6. If you haven’t needed a credit card up until people have been telling you that you need one, don’t worry about it. You really don’t ‘need’ one. The only reason that I got my credit card (aside to help with my credit score!) was for emergiencies-and that was at my family suggestion. I ended up applying for a card through my bank/federal credit union. They will be easier than any other place, especially if you have been with them for a while. Make sure you have NO annual fee. Aside from that, pick and choose.
