What can i do before i attending to court cause by bad credit card?
I haven’t pay my credit card for about 3 months (there’s a money matter since i left my last job) & i receive a letter from lawyer firm that asking me to attending to court on this coming June 2006. Im a bit scared now……
Call the credit card company from a pay phone: do not give your number or address. Try to see if they will accept a monthly payment set up. Most want your money and would rather get it from you voluntarily, rather than after the court gets involved.
Go to one of the nonprofit credit counseling firms and have them call the credit card company and get them to freeze the interest and work out a payment plan. Stay away from the for profit ones that lie and say they can make the debt go away.
depending on how big the debt is, you either file for bankruptcy or work out a realistic pay schedule. You have to find a good financial adviser, weight both options and make a decision. There is hardly anything else you can do - this is a purely financial question which option would be most beneficial in the next 10-20 years.
