  1. They only report negative credit. The fact that the account is open and in good standing IS your good credit report.

  2. Steve doe’s not know what he is talking about. I have had a Sears card for years and they do report.

You need to call customer service and ask them.

  3. Sears is notorious for not always voluntarily reporting unless a card holder calls them and requests that they report.

The best you can do is call them and request that they start reporting to all three CRA’s.

When they do, keep an eye on their updates. You may go through periods where they will not update after a payment is made.

They are just as sloppy about updating an account as they are in not reporting in the first place.

Yes, Sears is backed by Citi - but the fault is not with Citi but with Sears.

Sears “claims” that they have been upgrading their systems and that is the reason why they “Sears” are not reporting or updating.

Since they have been “upgrading” their system for over a year now - I don’t know if they just don’t want to report unless asked to OR they just have a bunch of lazy idiots doing their “upgrading”

  4. Sears credit cards are actually issued by banks now rather than by the retailer itself.

In the US, it’s a division of Citibank. In Canada, it’s a division of Chase. Maybe it’s because the Sears card is showing up under one of these names on your credit report?
