Should I take cash, credit card or travelers checks to Puerto Vallarta?
I’m going to Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday and staying there for a week. I’ve never traveled internationally so I was wondering if i should take cash, use a credit card or some travelers checks. I’m not sure as to what the international rate is for using my capital one credit card. Another option could be to use my ATM. Any suggestions?
If it’s all expense paid, take some travelers checks. Banks these days will insure them so that if you lose them or they’re stolen, you don’t lose money. Say you’re going for 4-6 days, I would take about a couple of hundred dollars worth of cash and take travelers checks for the remainder amount. You can talk to your bank about availability of ATMs or fees. Better to talk to them or your travel agency than to ask someone who may not know.
We always take traverlers checks, if use loose them you can get a replacement. However the other good thingto do would be to call your credit card company. Number one it notifies them that you are going out of the states, and that your card has not been stolen, but also you can check on any additional fees they may impose like cash advance etc.

I would take a little cash - say $200 or so in small bills to tip or shop with, and the rest in travelers checks - which you can cash pretty much anywhere.
Why not take USA Dollars, that seems to be universal currency these days.
