  1. I heard that some airlines, especially those operating local flights only do not refund tickets.. but you know, just recently, we refunded an amount of 319.17usd from a travel agency here in uae (the flight was china to uae and return). It was a 2 way tickets and he didn’t use the return, the ticket was issued months ago, but we still refunded the half way..and by the way, he used credit card when he purchased this ticket. Go and demand, you have the right to refund it.. though you have to pay for the cancellation.

  2. It does not matter when you bought the ticket or when the flight is. It matters what type of ticket you bought. If you bought any type of discounted fare, most likey it is a non-refundable ticket. That is once you paid for the ticket, that is your ticket and you won’t get a refund.

However, you may be able to get the airline to agree to cancel the ticket for and charge you a cancellation fee. In this case you won’t get all of your money back, but at least a portion.

The other thing to look at is if you can “transfer” the ticket to another destination/date/person. This is probably the one that will give you the best chance for success. Again they will charge you a “fee” but this usually runs in the $25-$100 range depending on the original price of the ticket.

Also, if you try to dispute it with the credit card company, the airline will respond to the dispute that says it was non-refundable and the CC company will deny your dispute.

  3. Zero. This is the risk of buying low-cost NON-REFUNDABLE tickets. If you want a refundable ticket you will pay like twice as much. You may be able to “transfer” the ticket to another time/location but you will need to pay the difference in airfare plus a fee of $50-$100.
