National City Credit Card? Please help?
I have the 1234 reward national city card and I just recently got it so Im new with it and thought instead of staying on hold all day I could get the friendly ppl of YA to help me.
I was christmas shopping last night after work (1 am) and I spent about 700.00 but my limit is 3,000 and about 4am my card was declined at meijers and the cashier said it was because “the bank was closed” I dont really understand this. not it is 9am and it is still off can you tell me when it usually comes back on or whatever?! Thanks alot.
With computers the bank is never closed. Would have been pretty bad if you were trying to buy gas or catch a plane in the middle of the night.
If you use it a lot, one time after another, they sometimes cancel it to make sure it wasn’t stolen. Call and tell them it really was you, and they’ll fix it.
your limit or the closing of the bank does not have anything to do with it…i work at a major retailer and credit cards get declined for all kinds of reason…
the mayjor one generally is that your credit card company creates a user profile for you and records your habits…since you just got it they wont have one or just a general one…what happens is that a card can get declined as soon as you spend more or in a different town than what you usually do…meaning they try to prevent theft of your card once the system thinks its not you using it…that is probably the reason here since it is a new card…just give them a call and verify that it was you using it and everything should be fine
I think she was trying to stop you from being embarrased where I work we get a message on the checkout that says request phone authorisation when a customer has spent a lot of money on their card it happens a lot at christmas. Hint: if this ever happens to you it’s NOT the cashier’s fault so don’t winge at them and say that they’re not doing their job properly because it is a security procedure carried out by your card provider to prevent fraud and has nothing to do with the cashier cos it severly pisses me off when people say that to me especially if they’ve never worked with the public cos people who do don’t act this way when stuff like that happens and I think it’s rediculous when middle aged people act like spoiled children that can’t get their own way.
