my credit score is 661 just checked it why can’t i get a circuit city or best buy credit card?

they didn’t approve my for credit last time and i know inquiries affect my score, with this score should i try again?

  1. 661 is very low. Try to get your score up to 700 which is a better score, it just shows you are more reliable but yea 661 is a low score. Credit card companies like giving credit cards to people with good scores, because they know that they can pay them back the money. Your score verifies how reliable you are at paying back the credit card companies.

  2. Your information is scant…if you have collections, late pays or went bankrupt with one of there sister companies they may deny you.

    Or you could be already in heavy debt. Some guidelines of credit card vendors are probably going to stiffen due to the mortgage implosion. This downturn will have a domino effect on other industries.

    I would not keep pulling on your ficos until someone says yes. To many pulls in one day can effect your scores.

  3. Lenders standards are becoming more stringent given the way the credit market is going right now. Other folks mentioned trying to get a 700 score. And this is right on. You need to have 700+ to get any credit these days =)
