Lying about age on a credit card application?

Okay so my friend asked me if he should lie about his age cause he is only 16, but he has a job and makes enough money to afford monthly payments, and he wants to get a credit card…..but he has to lie about his age? He can afford it the payments but what happens if they find out about his age?

all i told him was not to do it and idk what would happen if he did

  1. Don’t do it, a minor cannot legally sign a contract.

  3. It is illegal to do so, plus they will try to check/report on his credit and without the proper birth date they will be unable to do this, and might find out.
    He should look into a checking account instead with a debit card, if he really can afford it. Getting into any amount of debt at 16 is just setting yourself on a bad track and is truly unnecessary in almost all situations.

  4. Tell your friend that if he has a good job and can afford a credit card he can afford to Waite and be responsible.

    He will not get in trouble it just will not go though.

  5. It will not go through, because he has to provide his social security number. And even if it does go through with the wrong birthdate, it will cause problems for him later when there are two birthdates for one person. Besides, it is technically fraud, which is a pretty serious offense. If he gets caught, he’s never going to be able to get a credit card again.

    What does he need one for, anyway? Does he want it just to show off?
