I just saw a commercial about a prepaid visa card?
My question is, do you have to be atleast 18 years old to get a prepaid visa card? I’m not planning on getting this card on my own. In the near future I’m going to ask my dad if I can get one of these prepaid visa cards. I’m 16 years old, do you think they’ll let me get one?
If I were your dad, I’d get you a regular Visa card, if I believed you were mature enough to manage a credit card. Prepaid cards aren’t a good deal unless they are the only card you can get, as they are primarily used by those whose credit doesn’t qualify them for a regular credit card.
You have to be 18 years old to enter into a contract - and this is a contract.
However, your dad can get you one.
Prepaid Visas are available everywhere now and do not have a contract involvement so there is no age requirement
Since you are older than 13 you can order a prepaid visa card from NetSpend here:
You will need your dad (or guardian) to provide his information as well as yours, but since it’s a prepaid card there’s no credit check or credit risk for him at all. You can only spend what you load onto the card.
The card will have your name on it and you will be able to log into the website at, it’s really just a legal thing that a parent has to approve the order. You can be as young as 13 years old and still order a card from NetSpend.
