  1. It depends. If you use the MasterCard debit card like a debit card, money is taken out of your bank account shortly after you use the debit card, then there is no credit to speak of. But If you use the MasterCard debit card like a credit card, you get a monthly statement and you pay off the balance on time, then you’re building up a credit history.

  2. nope. since the money goes directly out of your checking account and there are no payments made, there is no history to track, therefore, no credit is obtained.

  3. Well if your account goes into debt then it will start generating interest like a credit card as the ‘debit’ functions are more a part of the mastercard aspect.
Most debit cards are attached to your bank account and therefore available credit is determined by the amount in your bank plus a certain agreed amount.

  4. no it doesn’t, what you can do though is get a prepaid credit card through the bank, that will build up your credit.

  5. No! Don’t charge things as if you had credit, it leads straight to your bank account. For Ex. You pay 30$ on gas with it, then automatically, you lose 30$ in your bank account. The money comes DIRECTLY from there. So, be careful.

  6. No. It is pretty much the same as writing a check.

    Nope.

If your card has the word Debit, than it will do exactly that, debit your account.

The MC symbol simply allows you to use the card where MC’s are accepted.

You may not remember a time, but when debit cards first came out they didn’t have the MC or Visa symbol.

They were stricltly debit cards and you had to find an ATM or gas station that accepted your type of debit card.

Now, that banks and creditors figured out that the more places you are able to spend your money the more chance for them to gain revenue.

Even though you sign, like a credit card at some places, it still is a debit and comes directly out of your checking account, only it usually takes 24-72 hours to post to your account where as a true debit transaction where you use your PIN posts immediately.

Take your cash, get a secured credit card and build credit that way.

    Good luck

  8. nope it sure doesn’t sorry
