credit card services

I am opening a Gutter Business to install gutters on peoples homes. I was wondering, if you pay for someone to work at your house, to provide some service, how would you like to pay? Cash or Credit card? I am just wondering if I should get a Merchant account for my business. Thanks

  1. Many like to pay for services on credit card. If you don’t accept credit cards, you may lose a lot of business.

  2. It’s usually a cash or check payment. With credit cards, you would have to have a card reader and would have to be electrically tied into you bank.
Otherwise, someone could try to pay you with a stolen, voided or maxed out credit card.
Doing the instant credit check would not be possible while you are in the field.

  3. I would definitely get a merchant account if it were me. Your customers will feel better paying via credit as they have some protections if they do. Also I would imagine you’d get more customers if you offer them a few options for payment. Like using their credit card so they can pay over time. Oh yeah and the instant credit thing all you need is a cell phone. When you open your merchant account you will be given a toll free number for credit card approvals.

  4. I would rather write a check. This way, I will have a good prove backed by the bank that I did make a payment for the services.
I would find it highly suspicious if a payment needs to be made in cash. Usually, contractors who cheat on the income taxes do that. I would rather not give my credit card number. The reason for that, I am not sure at all how privately the contractor will store this information, and if it will be easily accessible by others.
Personal check would be the best way for me to pay.

  5. You need a contractors license. You need a business license from the state and city. You need contractors ins. And you need help. So you need to have employees and all the legal things that go with that…

Cash or Check or Credit Card…Be sure you get at least the cost of materials before you even start…

IM me if you need to start making money
