How can i get UNSECURED Credit card with my new SSN?
hi all..i’m a Master’s student in Bay Area of CA. I was granted with a SSN for the first time. I’d like to apply for Credit card.
Which bank will provide credit card with comparatively less interest rates. And please tell me Which Bank provides UNSECURED credit card even for new SSN holders. ( I’m looking to get Unsecured one directly without getting the Secured credit card).

In your case I would first try a credit union which are known for offering good deals for people with bad credit history and also for people with NO credit history… many times NO credit history is worse then a bad credit history… Good Luck Ravi!
what do you mean with your new SS#??? Did you change your old one or what?? Trying to hide your true identity??
The usual and easiest process is to open a checking account, using your legal street mailing address and phone number (which can be a non-contract type), and preferably arrange direct deposit of your paycheck, or just deposit $100 or so. Then after a few months, call to a bank officer’s attention that you have normally used the account in a regular and responsible manner, and ask what is required to apply for a modest limit credit card to build your credit rating. Actually you already know because you have just done it, but people in power love to be thought of as fatherly, and asked for advice! Assuming you are granted the usual starter $500 limit, make use of the card for all your business and purchases, but don’t exceed $400. Note that the minimum payment is quite small, but never ever use that amount, and always make your monthly payment in multiples of exactly $100. This is important, as the computer judges your personal wealth syndrome as “affluent” if it sees multiples of $100, and “deadbeat” if it ever sees pennies, even if you are being an EXCELLENT customer paying off the bill amount EXACTLY!!! After the computer sees a few $100 multiple figure monthly payments, your limit will probably be increased. Psychologically, you will be viewed as some debutant who tosses $100’s around and sees less as chicken feed! And they want in on it! Now the very important part. Keep all receipts in a safe place, and enter them in a log notebook as soon as you get home, without fail. Every few months, stop charging on that card, using another card you will no doubt have added per mail offers. Let the card come to a stable low balance, and add up all charges and all payments. Many people find that mysterious sums have been mysteriously added to their balance of many hundreds of dollars. Get an audit done if this happens, as soon as you can prove it. You can’t prove it until the account settles down, which takes 2 months. My advice is to get credit established, and then deal strictly in cash. You need a good credit rating to avoid huge deposit requirements everywhere you go, but letting your finances enter the twilight zone in credit cards, can become an invitation to button-pushing crooks lurking in ivy-covered banks. You are a student so the Capital One student card is a card you can easily get. One has no annual fee.
