Do i need a credit card to cash a cheque? someone is sending me a cheque over and i dont have a credit card… do you need one? or do you have to be a certain age to cash it?

  1. Well you sound like you are in canada the way you spell cheque. Open a bank account. Even a saving account, I don’t care how young you are. I had a saving account when I was 11, for my paper route. With an account you can deposit the check, then allow it to go through the system which will take 2 to 4 days. That is the only way. You must deposit the check.

  2. If you don’t have your own checking account and do not want to open one, you can cash the cheque by going to the bank that the check is drawn on and present your identification (assuming the cheque is in your name or made out to cash) and they must cash the check. You will not need a credit card for this.

  3. Either just do it at your bank or go to a check cashing place if you don’t have a bank account.

  4. You can open an account in your local bank and deposit the check into an account and it takes a day or two to clear. most of the time that is what will happen…just take it to a bank with identification and proof of address. like a bill stub or address change from post office…

  5. You don’t need a credit card to cash a cheque, the two things are not connected.
