Credit Card Rewards program? Do you still get the rewards if you refund the item?

I currently have a chase freedom card with 3% cash back on most items that I purchase with this card. Some stores I get more back but I was wondering if I return the item do you I still get the reward after it goes through and I return the item in a later date?

  1. No, they will take the “points” back.

  2. Just as points are added with purchases, they are deducted with refunds.

  3. Its based on “Net” Purchases, otherwise known as Purchases - returns.
