student credit card

-Never missed a payment (always paid most or all of the bill before or on the due date)
-3 Credit cards
-6 month credit history on one card

Only problem is I have 14 inquiries on my credit report. How good of a chance do I have to be accepted for a discover or american express student credit card?

  1. Of course you can be denied for a student credit card, you have a short credit history, as 6 months isn’t much at all. 14 credit inquiries will also be an issue. I would say you have a little less than a 50/50 chance of getting approved

  2. If you have three credit cards now, you shouldn’t be trying for another.

  3. I’d say if you have three credit cards open and only a six month history on one, your a pretty big credit risk. It basically says you’ve applied for and received a ton of new credit, but have no real history of supporting debt. So Discover and Amex will surely be wary of giving you a fourth card.

  4. Yes, you shouldn’t be applying for anymore credit cards for now. Wait a little while, while you are trying to get some or all of the inquiries off of your credit report. Also, wait at least a year. And as one of the other people just answered, you have maybe a 50/50 chance. But I wouldn’t do it right now, because you would look like a risk to them.
