I need to purchase an airline ticket for a person in Nigeria to get to the US, and would like to know if I can call the airline That they would use to get here and put it on my credit card and have it waiting at the airport in Nigeria??

  1. I believe so, why don’t you just call and ask?

  2. Quite a few airlines are now insisting that the person flying actually produces the credit card that paid for the ticket at check in. This is to stop fraud. It might be best to go through a travel agent.

  3. Yes, you can. Make sure you have the EXACT spelling of that person’s name as it appears on their passport. Usually you will get electronic tickets, so just make sure your friend gets the email. If it is a paper ticket, make sure it is sent to their address, not yours. There should be no reason to have something waiting at the airport.

    I have never heard of an airline asking for the credit card, since many people buy for others.

  4. Yes you can but why would you? Most tickets are electronic so they are not “waiting” at the airport, the person just needs the booking code. But, if it is not too rude, why are you doing this. If you know the person, then fine. Really know them, have met them etc. But if you have not, please note that it is a well known scam that is perpetuated out of Nigeria to get money from westerners.
