Am I liable for a company credit card charge in my name?
I work for a small business with business trips each week. I use my company credit card for all expenses which is paid by the company. Recently I used the card to book a flight for around $750 but once the boss saw the receipts he said I should have been able to find something half that price and told me he is not going to pay the $750 off the card.

You can not be personally held liable for business expenses. If you make personal charges on the company card you could be liable.
Absolutely.. You are responsible for paying for any charges made on the card- approved or otherwise.
If you do not make the payment, they will charge off the balance, and send it to a collection agency.
Most companies also have policies that if your company card goes into default, you will be fired.
Is it wrong that he’s refusing the payment? Yes. If he had a limit to what he would reimburse you for, he should have told you up front. I would insist that he **** it up, and pay the $750. Otherwise, he’s likely to lose you as an employee- whether you choose to stay or not.
Wrong or not, you’re still liable for the balance.
Well, I don’t know much about this, however, I am sure at some point when you were given the card, you had to sign some type of liability contract, or something. Since it’s a small business, maybe your employer overlooked that and trust you with the card. You’re in a sticky situation, If that trip was paid because of business trip, and you genuinely tried to find the cheapest flight available, then no i don’t think you should be held liable.
if the card is your name then yes, if it is in the business name than he(boss) has no choice but to pay it
$750.00 was that first class? That’s way to high, you could have found something cheaper. Your boss is right.
It all depends on what your company policy is.
He has a right to refuse to pay the charges if he feels that you abused the card.
He also had a right to fire you, which he didn’t do.
PS: If the flight was required for work he cannot refuse to pay any of it. If he says “you should have found something for half price” then he needs to pay you half of $750.
Next time, get all flights approved by him in the future before you buy.
